Best Protein Works Flavours: Ranked by a Busy Gym Girl
If you’re looking for the best Protein Works flavours, this guide breaks down my honest rankings based on taste, texture and how I actually use them.
Protein Works was the first Protein supplement brand I ever started using when I began my fitness journey, and it’s still the one I reach for now. I have tried other brands along the way, but I always come back to Protein Works becaues I genuinely love the products.
At first, I will be honest I was pretty overwhelmed by the number of flavours and options. I am very much the type of person who thinks “I don’t know which one to choose, so I’ll try them all” …. and that’s pretty much what I did. Some flavours were amazing… some were questionable and some only really good for specific things like oats or baking
I have tried A LOT of Protein Works flavours over the last few years – through bulks, cuts, bulk, busy work weeks, 160g protein days, rushed breakfasts, post-gym chaos and the classic beginning of my journey when I had absolutely no clue what to do or how much of the stuff I should be consuming.
Because people always ask me which flavours are actually worth buying, I wanted to put everything I’ve learned into one honest, gym-girl-friendly guide.
This is my full flavour ranking of the best Protein Works Flavours – the ones I reach for daily, the ones I would re-buy, the best flavours for oats, the best for shakes, the underrated gems, and yes… the ones I probably wouldn’t buy again.
No waffle. No complicated nutrition talk. Just real reviews from someone who uses Protein Works every single day.

My Top Protein Works Flavours (Ranked 1-10)
Below is my honest ranking of the best Protein Works flavours, based on taste, texture, and how I actually use them day to day.
1. Chocolate Coconut Party: Best Overall
Why I love it:
Honestly, it’s just so so good! chocolatey with real peices of coconut in it. I think all protein shakes have a kind of “bity” texure but the fact that this one the bits are actual peices of coconut! Plus its sweet and perfect for shakes.
As this one is a premium flavour you can only purchase as Whey Protein 360 extreme – they don’t do this flavour for other ones such as whey protein 80 or 100% protein, but for me it’s worth the extra cost.
Best for: Shakes
Would I rebuy? Yes. Always!
Available in: Whey protein extreme 360
2. Millionaires Shortbread
So tasty! SO sweet, but not too sweet! It doesn’t taste exactly like the millionaires shortbread you buy at the supermarket but it’s definitely up there!
Best for: Shakes – But I reckon you could make a reallyy good high protein millionaires shortbread with this! (Let me know if this is something I should try! – to be honest I will probably try it anyway!)
Would I rebuy? Of course!
Available in: Whey protein extreme 360, Whey Protein 360, 100% Protein, Whey Protein 80, Vegan Wondershake
3. Chocolate Bueno
It’s chocolately, it’s delicious, its a GREAT flavour for baking – I have made many high protein brownies with this! but it’s also great for shakes and other things like a high protein hot chocolate (yum!) and chocolate oats (again – yum!). It’s basically the perfect all-rounder and easily one of the best Protein Works flavours if you want something versatile
Best for: Pretty much everythhing . Except maybe greek yoghurt bowls.
Would I rebuy? Definitely
Available In: Whey protein extreme 360, Whey Protein 360, 100% Protein, Whey Protein 80, Vegan Wondershake
4. Speculoos Biscuit Heaven
This is another great choice! I couldn’t imagine adding this to recipes, but for shakes it is so good! it’s sweet and biscuity. Again doesn’t taste exactly like a biscuit but it still tastes really good!
Best for: Shakes
Would I rebuy? Yes!
Available in: Whey protein extreme 360
5. Chocolate Silk
This tastes similar to chocolate bueno … but I prefer chocolate bueno. This seems to be less chocolatey unless it has changed since I wrote this. But it’s still good!
Best for: Most things ! Again … except yoghurt bowls.
Would I rebuy? Absolutely!
Available in: Whey protein extreme 360, Whey Protein 360, 100% Protein, Whey Protein 80,
6. Strawberries ‘n’ Cream
verryy sweet, but so good for shakes, especially when mixed with real fruit like strawberries and mixed berries! yum! It also tastes amazing in overnight oats.
Best for: Shakes, overnight oats
Would I rebuy? Yess (and I have multiple times! for overnight oats)
Available in: Whey protein extreme 360, Vegan Wondershake, Whey Protein 360, 100% Protein, Whey Protein 80
7. French Vanilla
Again, sweet, vanilla, and yummy. Great for baking and for things like baked oats. Also great for shakes! this is a perfect all rounder.
Best for: Shakes and baking
Would I rebuy? Yes
Available in: Whey protein extreme 360, Whey Protein 360, 100% Protein (vanilla creme), Whey Protein 80 (vanilla creme).
8. Salted Caramel Bandit
This might be one that at first i’m like “hmmm this isn’t quite salted caramel” but then the more you have it it’s like “actually…. this is good! I rated it lower as I don’t know what else you could do with it other than shakes. But maybe for a sweet high protein cupcake this could become a winner!
Best for: Shakes
Would I rebuy? yes
Available in: Whey protein extreme 360, Vegan Wondershake (salted caramel – not salted caramel bandit), Whey Protein 360, 100% Protein,
9. Blueberry Cheesecake Riot
Another really nice one but only available in Whey protein extreme. It was nice in shakes but not very blueberry-like. I haven’t tried it for overnight oats yet, but I reckon it would be really nice.
Best for: Shakes, overnight oats.
Would I rebuy? Yeppp
Available in: Whey protein extreme 360, Vegan Wondershake
10. Banana Milkshake
Kind of a “meh” one. I didn’t not like it but It didn’t really excite me either. I would buy again if other flavours weren’t available. I used it mostly for overnight oats. It would be good in banana cake too I reckon.
Best for: Overnight oats, baking
Would I rebuy? Probably not – unless other flavours weren’t available.
Available in: Whey protein extreme 360, Vegan Wondershake (banana smooth), 100% Protein (banana smooth), Whey Protein 80 (banana smooth)
Best Protein Works Flavours for Oats
When it comes to oats, creamy and dessert-style Protein Works flavours tend to work best, especially for overnight oats.
1. Strawberries n’ Cream
Why it works in oats:
Strawberry oats +fresh strawberries + a little dark chocolate + 1 tsp seeds… delicious!!!!
It also works really well for overnight oats. My fave overnight oats is blueberry, and even though this is a strawberry powder, it goes really well.
Sweetness:
Without the dark chocolate it is fairly sweet… but it tastes like pudding for breakfast so at that point I am already sold! The best part is the sweetness comes from the powder – not from any added sugar.
Texture
Oats – The texture is the same as any normal oats – creamy and delicious
2. Banana Milkshake/Banana Smooth
Why it works in oats:
This time – banana oats + chopped banana + walnuts + dark chocolate … YES PLEASE!!
Without the extra toppings it’s a bit boring, and I wouldn’t reccomend it, but those toppings are needed to make it more satiating anyway!
It also works really well for overnight oats. Again, even in my blueberry overnight oats, this goes really well.
Sweetness:
It is sweet, even with the added toppings. But it’s GOOD! The best part again, is that the sweetness comes from the powder – not from any added sugar.
Texture
No weird thickness or grit – just normal, creamy oats.
3. Chocolate Bueno
Why it works in oats:
If you have never tried chocolate oats… you NEED TO!! it is so good and what do you mean it’s healthy??? Chocolate?? Yep. As long as you don’t add an entire bar of chocoalte, it actually adds to the nutrients of the oats, it contains healthy fats, plus lots of antioxidants that are great for you (as long as its 75% dark chocolate or more!).
Chocolate protein powder + 1 square (around 10g) of 85% dark chocolate (you really don’t need much). Plus literally any other toppings.
banana, strawberries, blueberries, walnuts, seeds. all of them work!!
It also works really well for overnight oats. For this I make chocolate coconut overnight oats and still add the blueberries on top.
Sweetness:
It isn’t that sweet, but not savoury either. It’s the same amount of sweetness as any dark chocolate dessert. Oh, and did I say it’s delicious??
Texture
The oats stay soft and creamy once it’s mixed in.
4. Vanilla Creme/French Vanilla
Why it works in oats:
Personally I find this one is a litle different to the other three, but still really yummy. I dont think I could eat this without any extra toppings as it’s a but too plain.
I usually add 1 square (around 10g) of 85% dark chocolate (you really don’t need much). plus seeds, and any fruit (except citrus fruit like oranges!)
It does also works really well for overnight oats. I still to my usually blueberry overnight oats for this.
Sweetness:
It’s very sweet! hence why I need the extra toppings. The chocolate especially turns the extra sweetness and makes it really good!
Texture
Again – the texture is the same as any normal oats – creamy and delicious.

The Flavours I Wouldn’t Buy Again
- Chocolate surprise – A bit too artificial for my taste and not very versatile. It wasn’t bad, just not one I reached for compared to other chocolate flavours.
- White Chocolate Bueno – For shakes, it just wasn’t a favourite for me personally. I haven’t tried this one in baking yet, but it could work really well for white chocolate-style desserts.
